Depends on if you are buying new or used. If you're buying used it depends on what shape it is in.
If you are buying new, and you want to use it for utility work more than recreation I would take a look at the new re-designed 2009 Polaris Ranger. I must say I am impressed with the improvements that have been made to this side by side.
If you are buying new, and you want to use it for recreation more than for utility use, then I would recommend the 2009 Polaris Rzr S. It has 6% more hp than the 2008 model, has a stock top speed of 63 mph, and comes from the factory with long travel suspension that has 12" of suspension travel, and makes the Rzr 60" wide, for great stability. And you get the high dollar suspension, extended a-arms, extended axles, extended steering, and Maxxis Bighorn tires, all with the factory warranty.
My next choice for recreation combined with utility use would be the 2009 Arctic Cat Prowler 1000 XTZ. Next in line would be the Kawasaki Teryx 750.
I hate to say it, because I own one, but the Rhino would be my last choice of the new model side by sides. Yamaha chose to go with bold new graphics as the only upgrade for 2009, and the Rhino has been left far far behind in both performance and utility use, by virtually all of the competition. Maybe it can still measure up against the Honda Big Red, but since no has seen a Big Red yet, we can't say.
