Don't know if you all have visited other sites and heard the news or not. The Arctic Cat dealer show was this week. Arctic Cat unveiled the new Prowler 1000XTZ. It has the same 951cc V-Twin EFI that debuted in the Thundercat last year. They have done some upgrades to handle the additional power. They have also upgraded suspension and changed things like the new parking hand brake. It will retail for $13,999. The dealers got to drive all the new AC models at the show. Everyone was raving about the Prowler though. I am told it will out accelerate every other side by side by a mile. Here is a link to the new 09 catalog with all the cool new stuff. There is lots of good stuff for the Prowler in there. http://arcticcat.com/atv/pdf/catalog/PGA_Catalog_US.pdf
And here is a picture of the new 1000XTZ...........
P.S. I have a very well modded Prowler for sale for 14k if anyone is interested.........
I rode a Thundercat quad last weekend, that motor is awsome and in a Prowler will be sick. I just hope they improved the suspension and brakes A LOT, to handle it.
I have been planning on getting a new side by side after the first of the year, but haven't said anything while waiting to hear what improvements Yamaha made to the Rhino for 2009. Yamaha released their 2009 models today, and the biggest change is ... bold new graphics.
But wait a minute, ... I like orange, and even spent extra money for aftermarket Maier orange plastic on my Rhino. And I like the extra width of the Prowler compared to a stock Rhino, and that it has more ground clearance, and has more suspension travel than a Rhino. Having a lot more power is the icing on the cake though, and the way things look now I will likely be switching camps next year. The Prowler 1000 looks too promising to turn down.
I would say good choice 3TV. I think it will be a monster. I like my Prowler now, except for the power. I don't think that I will ever have to say that again when I get the 1000...............
The big question for me now isn't what side by side to plan on buying next year, ... but when to put the deposit down on a Prowler 1000 at the local dealer. I'm thinking it would be better to wait a few months for the hoopla to die down, but I'm wondering how long the waiting list is going to be. I don't need the Prowler until February.
I've already canceled the $360 bed delete kit I had ordered for the Rhino. The money is now being diverted to a savings account for the Prowler. I'm tired of the no power situation with side by sides. Power makes everything so much more fun.
My dealer tells me that they should see the first XTZs in Dec. or Jan. and that has been confirmed by guys who were at the show. I would get into your dealer and make sure you get the first one if you want one. I don't know how many each dealer will get, but they could be pretty scarce for awhile............

Awesome acceleration, it's quite easy to break the rear end loose around corners with just a hit of the throttle. Half-shafts have been beefed up drastically. The frame is all new, out of 22 frame fitments, none are the same as the XTX.
This machine loves being aired out over jumps. The test machines received more abuse during the Dealer Show than you can give them in 2 years. They were jumped, slid around corners, run thru whoops at speed... Thanks to the A/C guys for not black flagging everyone on the track...
According to the engineers, it will run every bit of 70mph. And as the other brands up the ante, A/C said they will turn up the power on the 951. One of the engineers stated that they can easily change a few things and up the power by 30-40percent.
